What should I expect during my session?
Your senior portraits could be the most meaningful photos you'll ever have, which is why you need a photographer who truly understands how to showcase your individuality and bring out your unique aspects in every shot. We provide everything you need—from a skilled professional photographer and a creative studio with perfect lighting and backdrops to a selection of your favorite portrait products for sharing. Let us help you tell your one-of-a-kind senior story. We can’t wait to celebrate YOU!
Are parents welcome to the session?
Absolutely! Please note that cell phone use is prohibited in the studio at ALL times, and no photos should be taken at any time during your student’s session. There are no exceptions.
What about my hair? Should I get it cut before my senior portrait?
Plan your haircut at least 2-3 weeks prior to your session. This will give it time to grow into it’s new style.
How should I style my hair?
Hairstyles like a high ponytail or bun can make it difficult for the graduation cap to sit properly on your head. It's usually best to opt for lower hairstyles or keep your hair down so the cap fits comfortably and looks neat in photos. You may want to consider bringing hairspray to help tame any flyaway hairs at the top of your head.
What do I wear?
Females:
- You’ll start by having your yearbook photo taken. It’s best to wear a strapless bra or a top with straps that can easily be slipped off your shoulders - a tube top is a great choice. This way, no straps will show and the off-the-shoulder look of the drape is maintained. Spaghetti strap tops that can be lowered are also a good option. For best results, we recommend arriving at the studio without any straps on your shoulders to avoid lines or marks on your skin. Don’t forget jewelry. A classic pearl necklace look or a subtle favorite necklace is a great choice. Avoid wearing large or bold pieces of jewelry, as they can distract from your beautiful face in your photos. If you have a class ring, BRING it!
- Casual Outfit (optional)- When it comes to casual outfits for senior pictures, it’s all about expressing your personal style and feeling comfortable in what you wear. There’s no one-size-fits-all—these portraits are about you, so choose clothes that make you feel confident and reflect who you are. Some popular options include a favorite pair of jeans with a cute top, a simple sundress, a cozy sweater layered with leggings, or even a classic jumper. You might also pick outfits in your favorite colors or patterns. Whether you prefer something dressy or laid-back, your look is completely your choice—these photos should showcase you just as you are! Don’t forget shoes, accessories and jewelery.
- Cap and Gown- The ideal outfit to wear under your cap and gown is something simple, modest, and comfortable while still looking presentable. A scoop neck or V-neck top—either a dress or a blouse—is recommended, as these styles stay hidden beneath the gown’s neckline. Pair your top with dress pants or a skirt in a dark, neutral color such as navy, black, or gray, or choose a dress that complements your gown. These are headshots and ¾ length shots so shoes will not show.
- Optional Sport Add on- If you added a sports session for $30, please remember to bring your uniform. You’ll need to ask your coach for your uniform ahead of time. Be sure to also bring any accessories that go with your sport—for example, cheerleaders should bring their pom-poms, and volleyball players should bring a volleyball etc.. Having all your gear will help us create the best possible photos.
What do I wear?
Males:
- You’ll begin your session with your yearbook photo, which will be taken in a tuxedo shirt, jacket, and bowtie. It’s recommended to wear a plain white T-shirt underneath the tuxedo shirt for comfort and a clean look. If you have a class ring, BRING it.
- For your casual senior pictures (Optional), the focus is all about capturing your personality and style. Choose outfits that you feel comfortable and confident in, whether that’s your favorite jeans and a T-shirt, a classic button-down shirt, or even a relaxed hoodie. You might also pick colors or pieces that mean something to you, like a team jersey or a shirt in your favorite color. Whatever you choose, the most important thing is that your outfit reflects who you are—these photos are about celebrating you and your unique story.
- Cap and Gown- it’s highly recommended to wear a collared dress shirt, with white or light colors being a safe and traditional choice. Adding a tie is optional but can give your photos a more formal look. Don’t worry about bringing dress pants, as they won’t show in the portraits. These are headshots and ¾ length shots so shoes will not show.
- Optional Sport Add on- If you added a sports session for $30, please remember to bring your uniform. You’ll need to ask your coach for your uniform ahead of time. Be sure to also bring any accessories that go with your sport—for example, football players should bring a football, soccer players bring a ball, etc.. Having all your gear will help us create the best possible photos. Items like shoulder pads are not necessary unless preferred.

What should my child wear for Picture Day?
We recommend outfits that are comfortable, reflect your child’s personality, and follow your school’s dress code. Here are a few tips:
- Solid colors or simple patterns photograph best.
- Avoid shirts with large logos or writing as they can be distracting.
- Pastels, jewel tones, or earth tones look great on camera.
- Layering (like a sweater over a collared shirt) adds a nice touch. Jean jackets are great too!
- Be sure your child’s outfit is clean, wrinkle-free, and fits well.
How can I pay for my child’s school photos?
You have several convenient payment options:
- Send in Payment on Picture Day
- Use the paper order envelope that was sent home. You can enclose:
- Cash
- Check (made out to Memory Keeper Photography) - Just place the payment inside the envelope and send it back with your child on Picture Day.
